A Multicultural Extravaganza will honour Barney and Avrom Charach for their lifetime commitment to Chai, to multiculturalism, and to Winnipeg’s volunteer sector at the Sarah Sommer Chai Folk Ensemble annual spring concert.
Chai will be sharing the stage with four other ethnocultural performing groups on June 22: the Asham Stompers; Hinode Taiko; Hungarian Kapisztran Folk Ensemble; and the Tamil Dance Group. “Chai is the feature, but we’re also showcasing the multiculturalism in Winnipeg and Manitoba,” says Sarah Sommer, co-artistic director for Chai along with Jesse Popeski.
The June 22nd concert is billed The Mountains Will Dance.
“We took it from the Hebrew title of a new piece we are working on and having choreographed,” explains Jesse Popeski.
Tax receipts will be issued for the full allowable amount.
